l SK Bioland introduces five types of bio-pharming mask pack containing ingredients essential for skin health in a bid to expand business portfolio

l Company aims to enhance marketing activities and expand distribution channels with the focus on promoting wider brand recognition in markets and bolstering existing footholds in China

SK Bioland, a subsidiary of SKC, is launching its premium brand ReXRe in a bid to make a foray into the domestic mask pack market, which is worth 600 billion won. The brand name, which is short for “Re:born by Re:creation”, represents the Company’s commitment to taking care of its customers’ skin responsibly with its natural material-based technology.

SK Bioland has newly introduced five types of bio-pharming mask pack as the first line of the ReXRe brand. The products are designed to care for diverse skin conditions with such functions as moisturizing, balancing the skin’s water and oil content, whitening, and reinforcing the skin’s barrier and elasticity. The premium products were made by adding a natural liquid, a result of the technology and know-how the Company has accumulated over the past twenty years, to 3G biocellulose sheets, which surpass previous products in terms of moisturizing, adhesiveness, sense of cooling, low irritation, etc.

The hyaluronic acid bio-pharming mask pack is a moisturizing product consisting of mask pack sheets and liquids that contain hyaluronic acid, one of the three main ingredients of human skin. Liquid composed of hyaluronic acid, wild soybean, cactus, and aloe leaves is put into mask pack sheets containing a culture fluid made of hyaluronic acid that has been fermented for more than 100 hours. Designed to balance the skin’s water and oil content, the product ingredients include extracts of camellia flowers, agar-agar weeds, and gallnuts among others. The whitening products contain extracts of camellia, licorice, Nymphaea Alba flower, etc.

With the launch of the new brand, the Company’s product portfolio has been extended to the existing OEM-centered mask pact sector in which rival Korean and non-Korean cosmetics businesses are competing. SK Bioland plans to develop the ReXRe brand as a premium brand in the country and to penetrate the Chinese market on a long-term basis. Last year, the Company completed its new 3G biocellulose mask pack factory, with a production capacity of 50 million sheets per year, in Haimen, Jiangsu Province, China.

Commenting on the occasion, an executive of SK Bioland said, “Our new line of ReXRe bio-pharming mask packs is a result of the integration of our sheet and liquid capabilities as the country’s top business in natural materials production. We plan to firmly establish ReXRe as a premium brand in Korea first, and then to enhance its synergistic effects by making a foray into the Chinese market.”

SK Bioland has begun selling the ReXRe brand through its official online mall and plans to expand its on/offline distribution channels.
